Pottery with a Purpose

I had the pleasure of taking my first pottery class this summer.  It was a hand building class in which I made bowls that were donated for a charity luncheon.  It was great fun and the best part of it was that I got to play a role in supporting an Empty Bowls luncheon event dedicated to the aid of hunger fighting organizations.

That lunch event is taking place this Sunday at Community Arts Center in cooperation with the Potters Guild from 12 – 2 p.m. For a minimum donation of $10 per bowl, attendees are invited to enjoy a simple meal of soup and bread served in a beautiful handmade bowl of their choice with 100% of the proceeds from the fundraiser going to local food banks.

Professional and amateur ceramic artists, generous local chefs, food purveyors, and dedicated volunteers are helping to make this event a success so come on out and enjoy lunch with community members and raise money for organizations battling hunger.

  1. I remember doing an empty bowls project about 10 years ago for school! I didn’t realize it was still going on. Great work 🙂
